On May 18, 2024, the 21st International Children’s Song Festival “Mayflower Tuzla 2024” was held at the Tuzla National Theater.

By the way, the first Mayflower Festival was held in 1974 and was active until the invasion of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s. In 2017, the city children’s choir “Slavuj” Association and conductors Renata Bagarić and Zlatan Mujkić brought the festival back to the Tuzla stage and acquired international status.

A total of 12 songs from five countries, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Sweden, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, were selected in 2024. Lamija Aliefendić’s parents, Belma and Adnan Aliefendić, confirmed to us that Lamija Aliefendić sang the song very well and received an important award for stage performance.

One of the famous participants was Maya Sar and the famous producer Mahir Sarihodžić, who presented a song “Dear Camilla”, I am glad to be in that company.

The festival’s winners are Sofia Makari and Lota Knežević With the song “Klinka”.

– I am honored that the song “Lejla” is sung by a beautiful 10-year-old girl Lamia Alifendic From Tuzla, for which I wrote the music, to the texts of Nasiha Kapidžić-Hadžić, arranged by Mario Juric, are included in the 12 festival songs performed at this year’s Tuzla Mayflower Festival 2024. As a composer, the best stage performance means a lot to me and is a great honor and recognition.

Music Obsession

– I have been playing music since I was a child in my hometown Donja Ljubija near Prijedor, and I go there every year as an exile from Prijedor. I am a professional amateur musician, I have composed more than 700 songs, mostly about Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through my own songs and songs by different authors and in different styles, in Sweden I am bringing back memories of Bosnia and Herzegovina, my homeland Donja Ljubija. I came to Sweden as a refugee due to the war – in Östersund, Gävle and Norrköping – and I am active in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Associations. The repertoire is diverse and the songs are beautiful. I hope that these songs will reach people’s hearts…
