This afternoon a serious accident occurred on the Autosole between Modena and Reggio Emilia involving two cars and two motorcycles. The accident occurred at around 4.50 pm, at kilometer 146.5, between the areas of Gazzata di San Martino and Rubiera in Rio. Two women were seriously injured and were taken by air ambulance to the Maggiore Hospital in Bologna and the Bagiovara Hospital in the Modena area. In total, five people were injured.
The accident caused a rear-end collision for ten kilometers, causing serious traffic disruptions. Authorities recommend that motorists heading to Milan exit at Modena Nord, use ordinary roads, and re-enter the motorway at Reggio Emilia to avoid the section affected by the accident.
