Kabosu dies: World mourns Elon Musk's Dogecoin dog
RIP: Kabosu, the Shiba Inu that inspired Elon Musk to create the ‘Doge’ meme and cryptocurrency, has died. —

Kaposu, the adorable Japanese Shiba Inu who became the main inspiration for the iconic “doge” meme and gave her furry face to Tesla boss Elon Musk’s cryptocurrency Dogecoin, has died at the age of 18, her owner Atsuko Sato revealed on her Instagram on Friday.

The DOGE index fell 1.2% on Friday on the news, but still maintained a 6% gain for the week.

Sato adopted Kabosu from a dog shelter in 2008. Things got pretty wild after a photo of Kabosu with a whimsical smile on his face and his paws crossed became a sensation on Reddit and Tumblr for being so cute.

The dog’s owner, Atsuko Sato, a kindergarten teacher in Sakura, Japan, wrote on Friday: “While I was petting her, she passed away peacefully as if she was asleep.”

The image, often captioned in broken English and Comic Sans, helped kick off the “doge” meme craze. By 2013, the cute image was permanent as the official logo for Dogecoin, a joke cryptocurrency that has since become a serious player.

Following Kabosu’s death, Sato posted a heart-warming poem on her blog and Instagram on May 24. It was an obituary filled with her deep sorrow and love for this precious late pet.

According to the blog post, a farewell party will be held at Flower Kaori in Ozu-no-Mori, Narita City, in memory of Kabosu on May 26. Sato announced that she is also planning a more joyous farewell event at Sakura Furusato Hiroba after summer ends later this year.

Kabosu’s legacy transcends meme culture. She is said to be the inspirational force behind the success of Dogecoin and paved the way for other dog-themed cryptocurrencies like SHIB and FLOKI. Her beautiful influence will forever be etched in the heart of the crypto industry.

DOGE falls after Kabosu’s death

According to data, Dogecoin (DOGE) price fell from $0.16165, which is the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level of the decline from the March 28 high of $0.2288 to the May 1 low of $0.12010. Coin Table.

If there are further declines, DOGE might first clear the support at the May 20 low of $0.14740 and then the May 1 low of $0.12010.
