Tahiti, July 24, 2024 – The OPT strikers are still waiting for the document listing the President’s “promises”, as promised on Tuesday evening, after negotiations on the ADT side aborted on Thursday afternoon: the inter-union is considering filing a notice with the new company.
Thursday marked another difficult day of negotiations between the Otahi Union, O oe to oe rima, CSTP-FO and CSIP. And in the end, little progress was made. At the Airport Tahiti (ADT), the meeting started at 3.20pm but was quickly cut short. Among the grievances, two stood out. On the pay rise, on the one hand, management said it was in line with the text and did not think it was necessary to make the required effort. Another sticking point was the HR director. But on this point, ADT general manager Gwenvaël Ronsin-Hardy was adamant and felt that she could not do without his cooperation. For him, asking for her HR position to be removed as the union demanded was “not an option”: “We are not talking about people. We are talking about commitment,” said the ADT director.
The fact remains that, on these grounds, the negotiations on Thursday afternoon ended prematurely after an hour and a half. “I expected this to happen,” Gwenvaël Ronsin-Hardy said with regret on Thursday. In the opinion of the union members, the discussions have not made progress. A new meeting may be held on Friday.
The inter-union secretaries will meet on Friday to consider expanding the movement by filing strike notices in other companies.
Resume normal flights
Meanwhile, flights to and from Raiatea, Bora Bora and Rangiroa were largely restored by Air Tahiti and Moana Air on Wednesday.
In fact, firefighters were sent to Bora Bora and Raiatea during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday to ensure the safety of landing and take-off operations and allow the resumption of activities that were interrupted on Monday.
