The audience of the Rhode Island circus did not know whether it was a unique spectacle or a real accident when the cables supporting eight acrobats loosened 12 meters from the ground, causing the eight people hanging in the air to fall. Witnesses consulted by CNN confirmed that one of the cables that secured the eight injured people came loose while they were pulling the human chain in the air. Although Payne did not disclose the specific conditions of the injured, police sources told the BBC that six of them were seriously injured but not in life-threatening condition.

The incident occurred during the “Legends” show, in which several acrobats simulated a chandelier with their hair. A large number of children, a special audience of the circus, witnessed the moment of the accident, causing a huge sensation in the stalls.
