The current parliamentary session has been extended to the 26th of this month.
Speaking after the opening of today’s session, Speaker Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the decision to extend the parliament’s term was taken because some of the work to be done during the current session had not been completed.
According to House rules, the session was to end on Thursday, the 15th of this month. However, the deadline was extended to the 26th of this month, and the vote will take place during today’s voting hours.
The term of parliament can be extended by a vote of its members.
