Catching is one aspect of cricket that requires focus and practice to perfect. We have seen time and again that even the best fielders in the game can slip up when trying to catch a routine ball. Some have even put on a comedy show while trying to catch an easy ball. That being said, during Sandersted Cricket Club’s Country League match against Merton Boars, a hilarious fielding effort caught the attention of fans. In a video that has gone viral, Sandersted’s Stuy Elleray juggled the ball seven times before catching it.
Even Elleray laughed at his own goal. Mark Barber of the Merten Wild Boars had already completed his century and was attacking in the hope of leading his team to a big score.
Elleray helped him out by putting a player on the bench at long receiver and surprisingly bumping the ball seven times, but ultimately he failed to keep his balance and hit the ball into the turf.
On social media platform X, fans called Elleray’s drop one of the biggest “humiliating moments” in cricket history, some even calling it the “worst drop of all time”.
Although Elleray’s fall had little impact on the outcome of the match (as Barber left the field shortly afterwards), the incident still caused an uproar on social media.

As far as the match was concerned, Sandersted won comfortably, chasing down the target of 240 runs in just 30.3 innings with 8 wickets remaining.
Barber’s unbeaten 117 runs came to naught as all the top five batsmen of Sandersted contributed to give the hosts a convincing victory on the field.
