The gendarmerie’s response to Clotilde Armand, who accused the gendarmerie of sabotaging the ballot

The gendarmerie said: “We stress once again that the capital’s gendarmerie does not manage electoral materials under any circumstances”.

“At the same time, our Unit, through specific attribution, in compliance with the provisions of Law no. 1, 33 of 2007 (reissued) on the organization and conduct of elections to the European Parliament, as well as subsequent amendments and additions, and GD no. 947 of 2004 on establishing the deadlines and storage conditions for materials required for voting, ensures the safety of the transportation of electoral materials, which is carried out by vehicles that do not belong to the Romanian Gendarmerie. Moreover, according to its statutes, the Romanian Gendarmerie is a non-political institution and does not carry out electoral activities. Last but not least, we emphasize that the people carrying the luggage highlighted in the video shot in the area of ​​the Electoral Office of Region 1 are not employees of the Romanian Gendarmerie”, the Gendarmerie added.

Clotilde Armand accuses Marcel Ciolacu of not agreeing to a recount but of “ordering the gendarmes to pick up and destroy the bags with the ballot papers from Piaţa Amzei, in the BES 1 district”. The Municipal Election Directorate no longer waits for the magistrate’s verdict on the falsification in the minutes to clarify what happened to the hundreds of extra ballots in the ballot boxes or how thousands of white ballots disappeared without a trace. He wants to make a recount impossible. The traces of electoral fraud in the 1st district are being quickly erased, and what this government is doing is an attack on the values ​​of democracy and the rule of law”.
