Unexpected discoveries during construction of Vaslui Hospital. Over the past four months, more than 260 human skeletons have been found on the land where the institution will be built.

On the website of the hospital, workers found more than 260 human skeletons in just four months in the city of Vaslui on February 2. Archaeological research began in April and unearthed 13 human remains, including 12 adults and 1 child.

According to experts from the Vaslui “Ştefan cel Mare” County Museum, this would be a former cemetery.

“Archaeological work has been carried out and up to 270 human skeletons have been collected by the end of the excavations. The samples were taken, labeled and sent to Iasi for dating. This is a former cemetery with multiple layers of burials”, Ramona Mocanu, director of the Vaslui “Ştefan cel Mare” County Museum, told AGERPRES on Monday.

During the excavations, a series of objects were also found, which will be presented at the international science communication conference “Acta Moldaviae Meridionalis” to be held in September.
