Libreville, Friday, July 5, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – The Transitional President has remained in Congo Brazzaville since Tuesday, July 2, to participate in the Afforestation and Reforestation Summit, and spoke on July 4 with Moussa Faki Mahamat, the evolution of Gabon’s transformation and the results of the Inclusive National Dialogue (DNI) held from April 2 to 30, 2024 in Libreville.
The host, General Brice Clotaire Origi Nguema, expressed satisfaction with the consensual, inclusive and peaceful nature of the transition process in Gabon. The Chairperson of the African Union Commission paid tribute to the important role played by Gabon in decades of fighting conflicts that broke out across the continent and in consolidating peace. Moussa Faki Mahamat therefore assured the Gabonese Head of State that he requested the AU Security Council to restore Gabon’s status within this high-level African body.
The process of Gabon’s reintegration into the AU is proceeding on the normal track. It is said that the AU Security Council will carefully review the relevant documents, and the international community has welcomed the efforts made by the transitional authorities to return to the constitutional order.
