HD. The nine illegal immigrants have been notified, and so has the captain.
The Maldives Immigration Department said they had received reports that illegal immigrants were leaving the city to travel to various parts of the country.
The work was carried out in collaboration with the Khedhufushi Municipal Council, Khedhufushi Police Station and the agency.
“Hence, the captain has been advised in writing to appear before the Immigration Department for the 09 foreigners who boarded the vessel illegally,” the BI said.
The Immigration Department said if they fail to comply with the order, action will be taken against them under the Immigration Act.
Currently, the police and immigration authorities are carrying out a joint operation in the city to prevent illegal immigrants from fleeing. The city council has brought the matter to the attention of the authorities and has begun taking action to stop it.
