A CRPF inspector was killed in an exchange of fire in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Monday after terrorists opened fire on a patrol vehicle carrying CRPF personnel and the local police’s Special Operations Group (SOG), the Press Trust of India reported, citing officials.
Officials said the incident took place around 3.30 pm in the remote Dudu area of Basantgarh.
According to officials, an inspector of the 187th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) sustained gunshot injuries during the clash and later succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
According to reports, the terrorists fled the area following severe retaliation by the joint patrol. In response, additional troops have been deployed to the area and search operations are being carried out to locate and eliminate the militants.
