Kuwait City, June 24: Candidates taking driving tests in Hawalli, Farwaniya and Mubarak Al Kabir governorates have expressed concerns over the lack of adequate sun protection while waiting in open courtyards and appealed to the General Directorate of Traffic, Al-Jarida daily reported. As temperatures soar, candidates have asked the authorities to build sheds to shield them from the strong sunlight during the exam.

Driving test candidates are waiting for the test in the scorching heat.

According to the newspaper, candidates are disappointed with the current conditions, stressing that they have to endure the scorching sun every day while waiting for their driving tests. The areas are managed by driving education companies and are expected to provide appropriate accommodations considering the costs paid by candidates to rent a car to take the test or use their parents’ vehicles.

This situation highlights a clear gap in the government’s responsiveness to test takers’ needs, particularly as technology and infrastructure in the transport and operations sectors continue to evolve. Despite talk of technological advances and modernisation initiatives, actual improvements in testing facilities and procedures have not kept pace with evolving road infrastructure across the country. The request for umbrellas reflects wider concerns about the adequacy of facilities and services provided during driving tests, highlighting the need for enhanced measures to ensure test takers’ comfort and safety in a challenging climate.
