The petitioners in the NEET-UG exam leak case have filed an intervention petition (IA) in the Supreme Court, seeking retest of nearly 3.5 lakh high scorers in the examination after the National Testing Agency (NTA) released the marks of more than 23 lakh candidates.
NTA announced the results on July 20 by centre and city.
Moreover, 37 of the 50 centres with the highest NEET scores are concentrated in Sikar district of Rajasthan.
The IA petitioners stated that they also scored quite high in the test, ranging from 650 to 680 out of a total of 720. The petitioners further stated that they realized that conducting a new test would not be an easy task and would have multiple impacts, so a practical solution needed to be considered.
Meanwhile, opposition parties including NEET raised the issue of exam leaks at their first all-party meeting on July 21.
Tiruchi Siva of DMK criticised the government’s handling of the NEET medical entrance exam and urged for a discussion on the issue. The entire opposition was united on the issue and demanded a detailed statement from the government regarding the irregularities during the meeting.
