Supreme Court calls for investigation into sighting of Ramadan crescent on Tuesday night

The Supreme Court called on all Muslims across the Kingdom to investigate the sighting of the blessed crescent of Ramadan on the evening of Tuesday, August 29, 1444 AH – according to the Umm Qura calendar – which corresponds to March 21, 2023 AD, and issued a public notice which reads as follows:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and may blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions, and after him:

In view of the contents contained in the Supreme Court judgment No. (167/AH) dated 1/8/1444 AH, namely that Tuesday, 1/8/1444 AH (according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar), corresponding to 21/2/2023 AD, marks the beginning of the month of Shaban in 1444 AH, the Supreme Court wishes all Muslims across the Kingdom to check the appearance of the new moon of Ramadan on the evening of Tuesday, 29/8/1444 AH – according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 3/21/2023 AD.

The Supreme Court asks anyone who sees it with the naked eye or through binoculars to: inform the court nearest to him and register his testimony there, or contact the nearest center; help him reach the nearest court.

The Supreme Court wants competent persons to take notice of this matter, join the committees set up in various regions for this purpose, and calculate the remuneration and reward for participation, as it cooperates in justice and piety and for the benefit of all Muslims.
