Allgäu

A thunderstorm with heavy rain and strong winds toppled trees and flooded cellars in canton Aargau between Monday and Tuesday. Aargau police reported that 30 firefighters were deployed to 150 damaged locations. No one was injured.

Reports of flooded cellars, blown-down building guardrails or fallen trees were numerous between 8:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. State police said Tuesday that this was due to severe thunderstorms following a hot and humid day.

Firefighters were on duty until late at night. No injuries have been reported so far. The railway underpass in Wildegg and a side street in Mürgenthal were still closed until 8 a.m. on Tuesday. A diversion has been signalled.

Lucerne

In the canton of Lucerne, the water police had to carry out several tasks, as the Lucerne police announced on Tuesday. On the shore, several boats broke free from their ropes and some sank. No one was injured. The fire brigade carried out rescue work on fallen trees and broken branches. In the city of Lucerne, the latter partially fell on the contact wire of the Verkehrsbetriebe Luzern AG (VBL) and on parked vehicles. Uri

Due to a rockfall on Monday evening, the Axenstrasse between Flüelen and Sisikon UR in canton Uri is closed until Tuesday afternoon. The exact extent of the damage is currently being assessed on site.

As the Uri cantonal police announced on Monday evening, monitoring instruments detected a shift in the terrain in the “Gumpisch” area at around 8 p.m. on Monday. As a result, the road was closed and traffic was diverted. No one was injured. According to preliminary findings, no roads or bridges were damaged. Axenstrasse is an important feeder route to the A2 motorway and to the Gotthardstrasse tunnel.

Zug

Zug police announced on Tuesday that a boat sank in the Disaster Bay area in the city of Zug. The passengers have been rescued safely and without injury. A total of 20 flights were diverted at Zurich Airport due to severe thunderstorms on Monday evening. When asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency, an airport spokesman said that takeoffs were briefly interrupted.
