Nhyira’s sudden death came as a huge blow to the gospel music community, with fans, colleagues and friends pouring in condolences and tributes on social media.

The Eternal team confirmed her death in a statement released on August 7, 2024.

Part of the statement read: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our friend and sister, Nhyira Marfo Okyere. We are devastated and heartbroken, but we seek comfort from God. We trust in His promise to always be with us and take refuge in His love. We ask for your prayers for Nhyira’s family and the Ghana Forever team. We thank you for your continued love and support.”

After announcing her death, a social media influencer named Quecy Official said that she was allegedly poisoned. According to Quecy, he attended a Team Eternity concert on Sunday where Nhyira Marfo Okyere gave a spirited performance.

He claimed to have later heard rumours that Nhyira had been poisoned.

Regardless, Nhyira’s family has asked the public to stop spreading false news that she was poisoned.
