St. Lucia’s first minimum wage comes into effect

Employers have until October 1 to ensure their employees are paid the minimum wage.

The Saint Lucia Government has taken action to increase wages and salaries for nearly 13,000 Saint Lucian workers.

Effective August 1, 2024:

  • St. Lucia’s first Living Wage legislation comes into effect;
  • The minimum monthly pension payment increased to $500 for NIC pensioners and $725 for government pensioners.

Employers have until October 1, 2024 to adjust their systems and ensure that employee remuneration reflects the following minimum wages:

  • $100 discount
  • $30.00
  • $100 discount

These people-centric policy measures, implemented by Prime Minister Philippe Pierre and the Government of Saint Lucia, will enhance spending power, improve the living standards of working-class Saint Lucians and restore retirement dignity to pensioners.
