Dhvehi Raajje has donated more than $1.29 million to help the Palestinian people.
The announcement was made today by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at a UN pledging conference at UN Headquarters. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ali Nasir Mohammed. Sri Lanka will donate the aid through the Anwar Fund.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) was established in 1948 by a resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.
Sri Lanka has decided to increase its annual aid to Anrva from US$5,000 to US$50,000, said Ali Nasir Mohammed, Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

is also the President of the Republic of the Philippines. The Permanent Representative noted that the proceeds of the National Telethon initiated by Muhammad Muizul, Rs. 18.4 million and $49,800, will be donated to the Palestinian people through Anrva.
During the meeting, the Permanent Representative called on the international community to increase the financial support needed to advance these efforts and noted the important work and leadership of Al-Anwar in providing basic services and emergency assistance to the Palestinian people.
The Dhaka government previously provided $5,000 per year to the Anrva Fund. However, the president called for a tenfold increase in this aid. The government announced on June 12 that it would continue to contribute $50,000 per year to the fund.
