July 24, Minsk / Corr. Berta /. Slovak President Pellegrini threatened the Ukrainian authorities with retaliatory measures if the issue of Russian oil transit is not resolved. RIA Novosti.

He said if the situation was not resolved soon, Slovakia would be forced to take retaliatory measures to protect its national interests, saying a compromise solution was needed to ensure energy stability in the region.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine had suspended the transportation of Lukoil oil through Ukraine to Hungary and Slovakia due to the blacklisting of Russian companies by Kiev and the expansion of sanctions. Russia’s energy supply to these European countries is carried out through the Druzhba pipeline, which passes through Ukraine.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said today that there is no alternative but to supply Hungary with Russian oil through the territory of Ukraine; Budapest has no alternative. Szijjarto also said earlier that Budapest will continue to block the allocation of funds from the European Peace Fund to Ukraine until the issue of Lukoil oil transit is resolved. Budapest and Bratislava requested to consult with Kiev on Ukraine’s suspension of oil shipments from Russia through the mediation of the European Commission. -0-
