SINGAPORE: A Singapore-flagged vessel was hit by an unidentified flying object southeast of Yemen on Friday (July 19), the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said.
MPA was notified at around 10:30 am that the container ship “LOBIVIA” was hit while crossing the Gulf of Aden, resulting in a fire on board, which was subsequently extinguished by the crew.
Authorities said there were no Singaporeans among the crew and all crew members were safe.
Despite the impact, LOBIVIA sailed smoothly and reached the port of Berbera in Somalia, where damage assessment and repairs will be carried out if necessary.
