A digital signage at a government agency in Delhi’s Connaught Place (CP) recently caused public outrage after it accidentally displayed explicit content. The incident took place around 10:30 pm on the digital signage located in H Sector and caught the attention of a passerby, who immediately lodged a police report.
Someone who noticed the content recorded the incident and alerted the authorities. Following the complaint, the Delhi Police registered a case under the Information Technology Act to investigate the matter.
In 2017, a similar incident took place at Rajiv Maidan metro station when passengers were shocked by a pornographic video played on an LED screen meant for advertisements. The explicit content played for nearly 10 minutes before alerted Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials. Several passengers captured the scene on their mobile phones, which was then widely shared on social media, prompting DMRC to launch an official investigation.
