On July 6, Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Shusha on the theme of “Building a Sustainable Future through Transport, Interdependence and Climate Action”. The press service of the President of Uzbekistan said Report.
The event was attended by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Turkish Vice President Djavdat Yilmaz, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanichbek Omuraliev, and elders of the Turkish Telecommunication Development Party. Azerbaijani President Ilhom Aliyev and Council Chairman Binali Yildirim also attended the meeting.
According to the agenda, the two sides exchanged views on the current status and prospects of multi-faceted cooperation within the organization and discussed current practical partnership issues.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev himself In his speech It was emphasized that the conference was held in Shusha, one of the cultural capitals of the Turkic world, and it was of great significance. It was highly appreciated the great creative work being carried out in Karabakh under the leadership of President Ilhom Aliyev.
“In the words of the great statesman and public figure of the 20th century, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Heydar Aliyev, “There is no Shusha-Karabakh, there is no Azerbaijan without Karabakh”“said the President.
Mirziyoyev reminded that five years ago, Uzbekistan became a member of the Organization of Turkic States of Azerbaijan.
This summit is being held against the backdrop of rising global risk threats and a deepening crisis of mutual trust. In such a complex situation, it is time to elevate our relations, which are strengthened by the spirit of eternal brotherhood, to a new qualitative level and develop a common approach. In this sense, it is important that today’s meeting is held under the motto “Building a Sustainable Future through Transport, Interdependence and Climate Action”.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev drew the attention of summit participants to three priority issues.
The first was the development of trade and transport routes.
Today, our countries are determined to enter the world’s major markets in new historical conditions and revive the Silk Road Economic Belt. Of course, in recent years, within the framework of the Organization, the legal basis for cooperation in this area has been strengthened, and digital systems have been launched. As a result, the volume of cargo transportation on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor has been growing. “The introduction of the most favorable tariffs for enterprises will undoubtedly increase the competitiveness and attractiveness of this corridor,” the President said.
The head of state noted that Uzbekistan is interested in establishing the “single window” system and the continuous operation of customs border checkpoints.
“It is appropriate that the Union of Logistics Centers and Freight Carriers of the Turkic States, which was established in Tashkent last week, participates extensively in the development of our organization’s agenda in the transport sector and in the implementation of its priority tasks. The Railway Administration Committee was established with its board of directors located in Tashkent I am sure you will approve our proposal. If we order, before the next summit, our trade and transport ministers will jointly develop comprehensive measures to more effectively use opportunities in international corridors, achieve full digitalization of road transport and create “green” corridors. “
The second is to jointly address climate change.
“If we say that the region where our organization is located is one of the regions most affected by climate change, it is true. We proactively and systematically address the existing problems on a ministerial basis. Establishment of the Turkish Ecological Council I’m sure you’ll approve of this proposal. The building is located in a large city on a salty bay in an area most affected by the environmental disaster. Nukus resettlement “Everything will be the same,” the head of state said.
The President also noted that the 29th UN Climate Summit (COP-29), which will be held in Baku in November 2024, will be a major historical event for countries.
“We sincerely wish the world leaders’ summit on climate change a success. We are ready to actively participate in this prestigious conference and provide all possible assistance to Azerbaijan in this regard,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The third is alternative energy.
“By 2030, our goal is to significantly increase the capacity of renewable energy sources and raise its share in the energy balance to 40%. Together with our partners, we are launching new wind and solar power plants with an annual capacity of 2 GW. These projects are being implemented on the basis of the principles of public-private partnerships at the expense of foreign direct investment. Together with Kazakhstan, we are also starting to build hydropower plants in neighboring Kyrgyzstan. Concept of “Green Energy Movement in Türkiye” I think it is time to accept this,” said the Uzbek head of state.
“We are interested in strengthening cooperation in the fields of digital technology, blockchain, cloud computing, quantum computing technology, robotics, talent training in the ‘fourth industry’, building a modern ‘knowledge economy’ and developing a creative economy. To this end, the Turkic National Organization Establishment of a human capital development research center We will promote this initiative and prepare to deploy it in our country. Under the auspices of this organization, we propose to organize the Youth Turkic Language Olympiad and the World Turkic Language Studies Congress to be held in Uzbekistan next year,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
In his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev once again drew attention to Gaza and Afghanistan.
“We are deeply saddened and distressed by the consequences of the nine-month-long bloody war in the Gaza Strip. The fact that the conflict has caused the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, especially women and children, cannot be justified by any reason or excuse. We call for an immediate end to the violence and the early launch of the peace process. The establishment of an independent and free Palestinian state is the most important condition for ensuring strategic stability and peace in the Middle East.“said the President.
Unfortunately, the situation in our neighboring country, Afghanistan, where millions of Turkic people live, has been neglected by the international community due to the intensification of wars and conflicts in other parts of the world. “Uzbekistan will continue to provide the necessary assistance to the Afghan people,” the President of Uzbekistan said.
“We believe that the return of Afghanistan’s ‘frozen’ financial assets abroad will help ease the social situation in the country. The issue of forming a common and consistent approach of the member states of the organization on Afghanistan in the new realities should be the main topic of discussion in our foreign ministers’ dialogue.”
At the end of his speech, Mirziyoyev expressed full support for the signing of the Karabakh Declaration included in the agenda of the meeting.
