The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) urged villagers to bring sugarcane and essential items back to the villages during this period as the sea will be open till next Wednesday.
The NDMA issued the request after receiving information about the current rains disrupting maritime traffic and difficulties in transporting sugarcane and essential commodities to some villages.
Therefore, the weather forecast in the country from Sunday (today) to Wednesday is expected to be safe enough for sea travel as the current rains have led to a shortage of sugarcane and essential supplies in some villages.
“We, therefore, urge you to check the situation in the villages and bring food and essential items to the villages during this period,” the NDMA said.
