Seven people are missing after a sailboat sank during a storm off the coast of Sicily on Monday.
The 50-meter-long boat sank in the sea near Porticello, near Palermo, with 22 people on board at around 5 a.m. Coast Guard and fire department patrol boats rescued 15 people, authorities said.
The boat was mainly filled with Britons, a New Zealander, a Sri Lankan man, two Anglo-French men and an Irishman. Fire divers rescued a one-year-old boy who was taken to Palermo Children’s Hospital. Survivors received medical care.
