Belarus’ Sabalenka won the Cincinnati Open.
Two-time Australian Open champion Sabalenka won the match by defeating American Jessica Pegula 6-3, 7-5.
Jessica, the champion of the last Toronto tournament, was expected to win the match, but Sabalenka played differently in the final. Jessica’s defeat ended her unbeaten record.
With this victory, it is Sabalenka’s 15th career title. It is also the sixth WTA 1000 event. This is Sabalenka’s first hard court title since she won the hard court tournament in Doha last year.
With her victory at the Cincinnati Open, Sabalenka moved up to No. 2 in the WTA rankings.
