The 95th Grande Braderie takes place in Luxembourg City on Monday, September 2. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of this annual event and score some great deals.
It’s September, and that means one thing: the return of the “Stater Braderie,” a much-loved tradition in Luxembourg City. This Monday, the streets of the city center and the train station area will welcome more than 200 retailers who will open their annual street market from 9am to 7pm. Here’s what you need to know.
Weather: Warm, but beware of potential storms
MétéoLux predicts today will be another pleasant day with mild temperatures. The temperature will be a comfortable 17°C in the morning, rising to a warm 25°C in the afternoon. The sky will be mostly clear with a few clouds passing by.
MétéoLux warned that the weather could change later in the day, with thunderstorms and showers expected in the afternoon.
Mobility: less traffic, more space for pedestrians
Parts of the Gare area will also be pedestrianised, in addition to the already pedestrianised city centre elevation. The city council announced it would “clear as many streets of traffic as possible” to create a spacious pedestrian zone for visitors.
Specifically, the road will be closed between Avenue de la Liberté and Place de Paris, and between Rue Notre-Dame and the Cathedral in the city centre. Drivers are advised to use Park+Ride (P+R) facilities and complete their journeys by bus, and please note that many bus stops near the main train station have been temporarily relocated to Rocade.
The “Place de l’Europe” car park in Kirchberg and the “Fort Wedell” car park in the train station area will be free on this day. In addition, the Fort Neipperg car park will offer two hours of free parking.
