June 28, 2024 (Hasahisa) – Civilian groups in Hasahisa, Al Jazira state, have accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of carrying out extrajudicial killings, including the assassination of a prominent doctor.

The RSF, which seized control of the state capital Wad Madani in December last year, has been accused of massive human rights abuses in the region.

According to the Sudanese Doctors Network, the RSF executed Dr. Farouk Yahya Mohamed Abdel Rahim, director of Al-Hasaheisa Hospital, in front of his family on Thursday.

The TV station condemned the killing as a “heinous crime” that was part of a “systematic policy of assassination” targeting medical staff and civilians.

The Hassahesa Resistance Committee confirmed the incident, saying that anesthesiologist Dr. Yahya was assassinated on his way to Al-Manaqil.

They also accused the Rapid Security Forces of killing a young man named Farid Noureddine, whose body was found in the Al-Taif neighborhood.

These latest incidents highlight the escalating violence and human rights violations in Al Jazira governorate, which has been under the control of the RSF for months.

The presence of the Rapid Assistance Force has led to severe disruptions to communications and the internet in the area, further isolating residents and hampering the flow of information.

While Sudanese troops still control two western regions, the Rapid Security Forces’ control over much of the state continues to raise concerns about the safety and well-being of civilians.
