Retiree lounges and business class suite upgrades at domestic ports

Apia, Samoa – July 5, 2024 – As 25day The Samoa Ports Authority yesterday morning officially launched its domestic port upgrade project at Salelologa Harbour on Savai’i as it celebrates its anniversary this week.

The upgrade project includes refurbishing the departure lounge, equipping it with comfortable seats and providing televisions for entertainment while waiting for flights. The project also includes improvements to the retiree lounge and business class suites, building new shops for private businesses, installing new fencing and upgrading the car park.

Yesterday’s opening ceremony began with prayers by Rev. Asosiri Suesu of the Salelologa Methodist Church, followed by a keynote address by the Minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure, Olo Fiti Afua Wai.

Shops and businesses that serve the daily traffic of the port.

The Minister also made a charitable donation to the Mapuipulotu organisation which operates the Savaii Old Age Home. At the end of the event, the delegation inspected the upgraded Salelologa Port facilities.

Since the official handover of the ports of Mulifanua and Saleloloa by Samoa Shipping Company on January 1, 2017,English Stone The Authority first launched the upgrade project at Mulifanua Port in October 2022. The Mulifanua project was completed in July 2023, and the Salelologa project started immediately, until it started yesterday.
