Research important for inclusive education system: Dr. Shafiu

Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafiu said research is very important in building an environmental education system. The minister was speaking at the Global Partnership for Education Knowledge and Innovation Exchange Forum.

GPE is an international organization that conducts research in the field of education and finds research solutions to existing problems. Kicks Maldives National Uptake Forum 2024, held in partnership with VillaCollege, brings together international researchers in the field of education. One of the main objectives of the forum is to discuss research findings and seek financial support for research.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the forum, the Minister of Education, Dr. Ismail Shafiu, said that such forums are very important for the modernization of Sri Lanka’s education system. He said that these studies will help study the education environment in Sri Lanka and bring about appropriate changes in Sri Lanka. He said that the forum will also provide information on the best practices in education in other countries.

“It provides important findings for education policy that does not exclude any child. It provides important information for a sustainable environmental education system in the country,” said Education Minister Dr Ismail Shafie.

The forum will provide information on research conducted so far by participating countries and funding agencies. It will also include sharing further research and its importance with funders. The International Development Research Centre of Canada participated in the forum as a financial supporter of the GPA.

The forum session will include panel discussions with various key areas. This is a 1-day forum.
