India is celebrating the 75th Republic Day in full swing. While celebrations are held across various states of India, the Republic Day Parade in the national capital remains a major highlight of this special day. This year’s parade will showcase India’s military prowess and rich cultural heritage on the capital’s majestic ‘Kartavya Path’. Around 13,000 special guests will take part in the parade – a move that will provide an opportunity for people from all walks of life to join in the celebrations and encourage people to celebrate Jan Bhagidari on this national holiday. Here are some of the key features of the parade.

– ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat – Loktantra Ki Matruka’ – these are the two themes of the 75th Republic Day parade.

India’s rich cultural diversity, ‘self-reliant’ military prowess and growing national strength are the main themes of the 90-minute parade, which will be attended by French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest.

– The ceremony will begin with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the National War Memorial, where he will lead the nation in laying wreaths to pay solemn tribute to the fallen heroes. Afterwards, the Prime Minister and other dignitaries will proceed to the saluting stand at Kartaviya Road to watch the parade.

– The arrival of President Draupadi Murmu and French President Emmanuel Macron will be escorted by the ‘Rashtrapati Ke Angrakshak’ – the Presidential Bodyguard, the most senior corps of the Indian Army.

– According to the Ministry of Defense, the presidents of the two countries will arrive in “traditional horse-drawn carriages”, a practice that will be repeated after a 40-year absence.

– The national flag will be hoisted, the national anthem will be played, a 21-gun salute will be fired using India’s indigenous 105mm field gun. Four Mi-17 IV helicopters of the 105 Helicopter Unit will shower flower petals on the spectators at Kartaviya Road.

– The band show ‘Aavaahan’ will feature over 100 women artistes playing various types of percussion instruments symbolising Nari Shakti. The parade will begin with President Murmu receiving the salute.

– For the first time, the Republic Day parade will feature an all-women tri-service contingent, which will march along the Kartaviya Trail. Women pilots will also dazzle the audience during the Indian Air Force flypast, representing Nari Shakti or woman power.

– The Republic Day Parade will showcase the nation’s defence might with an exciting and powerful convoy of mechanised columns, state-of-the-art equipment, parades of contingents and a display of multiculturalism and unity amidst the country’s diversity.

– The parade will be inaugurated by more than 100 women artists playing Indian musical instruments. The parade will be inaugurated with music like Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada etc. played by these women artists.

– Tableaux from 16 states and 9 ministries will also participate.

– The Republic Day parade will start at 10:30 am and will last for about 90 minutes.
