RCMP: Body of missing teen found in Surrey

Homicide investigators are looking into the death of a Langley teenager whose body was found in the Port Kells area of ​​Surrey.

Surrey RCMP say the body of 17-year-old Wenyan Michael Zhao was found at 17900 99A Avenue at 5:30 a.m. Friday.

Police said Zhao’s family reported him missing Thursday evening and he was last seen in the 5900 block of 206th Street in Langley.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the death was suspicious and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team had taken over the case.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said that based on preliminary investigations, Zhao’s death appears to be an isolated incident. The cause of death is still unknown.

Anyone with information on Zhao’s whereabouts after 9 p.m. Thursday is asked to contact IHIT.
