A man suspected of having close ties to the leader of the Quebec street gang Bloods Mafia has been arrested, Quebec City police say.
Guillaume St-Louis Bernier, 28, was arrested on June 30 after being stopped by RCMP in Kelowna, British Columbia, city police spokesman Pierre-Olivier Levesque said.
In March of this year, the Canadian government issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for St. Louis Bernier for drug trafficking and possession of stolen property.
Quebec City police said St. Louis Bernier was considered a “close associate” of the gang’s leader, Dave “Pique” Toumere, who was wanted on gun violence and drug charges.
Toumeil, who has been at large since July 2023, has been wanted by Quebec City police since an operation launched in February 2019 to combat an increase in violence related to drug trafficking.
Levesque said members of Quebec City’s tactical intervention unit traveled to British Columbia to pick up St. Louis-Bernier just before midnight Friday, and he will appear in court via video conference on Saturday.
