Sri Lanka welcomes Palestine’s full membership in the World Health Organization (WHO).
The decision to grant membership to Palestine was taken at the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.
Palestine joins the World Health Organization Mohamed Muezzou welcomed the country. The President said it was a sign of growing international support for a full Palestinian state. He said Sri Lanka decided to support the resolution because the Sri Lankan people strongly support the right of the Palestinian people to establish a state and to fully join international organizations.
Palestine’s membership in the WHO would give it all the rights of all other member states except participation in voting.

The World Health Assembly passed a resolution giving all powers to WHO member states. The UN General Assembly approved the resolution with 101 votes in favor.
