this seat; special seat; seat
The cabin feels more spacious, with higher ceilings and the largest windows of any single-aisle aircraft.
The interior of Qantas’ A220-300 was designed by long-time partner David Caon. Ten of the 137 seats are business class, arranged in a 2-2 configuration. The seats are upholstered in soft dark purple leather, have a pitch of 37 inches (94 cm), a width of 24 inches (61 cm), and come with an adjustable headrest, calf rest, and footrest. There is a wireless charging pad on the center console. Dual USB ports, tablet holder and tablet holder built into the table, drink holder, bottle holder, coat hook, and a nice touch light on the back of the front seat make this seat an absolute delight.
Economy class seats.
Economy class is arranged in a 2-3 configuration, which seems to leave extra space in the aisle. The seats are covered in a brown-gray woven fabric that feels and looks luxurious, comfortable and supportive. The earth tones were chosen to create a calm, peaceful atmosphere. The seat pitch is 30 inches (76 cm) and the width is 18 inches (46 cm). There are adjustable leather headrests. There are two USB ports and AC outlets. The windows are larger than some aircraft in the same class, enhancing the sense of space.
Entertainment + Technology
In-flight entertainment is available via the Qantas app, which you can access from your own device.
Wi-Fi was free for everyone and was fast and stable. Entertainment was provided via the Qantas app, available on your own device. Qantas says there are more than 2,500 hours of entertainment on the app. Given the short flight, I opted for something light: a few episodes of ghost Box sets of movies. There are funnier movies and darker shows, and plenty of options for kids. Both business and economy class seats have built-in device holders.
Serve
Business class service was very good – one steward for every 10 passengers. She also doubled as cabin manager but was warm and friendly to everyone. Economy class service was relaxed and pleasant. It was a lady’s birthday today in my row and the staff surprised her with a bottle of sparkling wine. She was very happy.
food
loading
In business class, there was breakfast service and I ordered an omelette. It was delicious. In economy on the return flight, I ordered a pack of three vegetable pancakes with ketchup – both the woman next to me and I thought they were delicious.
carbon emission
The A220 is replacing the Boeing 717 in QF’s fleet. The 717 produces 132kg of CO2 per business class seat and 88kg per economy class seat on this route, according to IATA calculations. Qantas says the new aircraft produces 25% less emissions than its predecessor. The A220 also produces 50% less noise than the industry standard and around 40% less nitrogen oxide emissions.
And one more thing
loading
The aircraft is noticeably quieter, especially at the tip. Takeoffs and landings were very smooth on both my flights.
price
Economy class round trip starts from $326; Business class round trip starts from $1,078.*
judgment
I love this plane and the Qantas decor. Even the toilets are spacious and comfortable.
