Putin expressed his condolences on Tuesday evening during a meeting with Russian Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, who will travel to Tehran on Wednesday morning to attend President Raisi’s funeral, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported, citing TASS.
During the meeting, Putin asked the Speaker to convey his condolences to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and told him that Russia hopes that bilateral relations will continue and develop as they are now.

In a message a day earlier, the Russian president described Raisi as a true friend who has made serious efforts to develop the level of strategic cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.
At the same time, Putin also announced that Russia is ready to help Iran investigate the cause of the helicopter crash that killed President Raisi and the accompanying delegation.
