Eight people have been arrested and three police officers injured following a knife attack in Southport, Sunderland, England, which left three children, one of whom was Portuguese, dead.
A mosque and a police station were attacked and cars were set on fire, Sky News reported. During the clashes, objects were thrown at the authorities.
Hundreds of protesters gathered at Kiel Square around 7 p.m. on Friday. Some protesters wore British flags and chanted slogans. Support for far-right activist Tommy Robinson. There were also shouts insulting Islam.
