Reports of corruption in sports and other sectors are made through the “Corruption: Report Here” portal managed by the DCIAP. The document did not indicate whether those complaints led to new investigations.

In recent years, the DCIAP has launched several investigations into alleged cases of corruption in football. The most popular were “Operation Red Card” involving Benfica and Luiz Filipe Vieira, “Operation Extra Time” against Porto and Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, and “Operation Foladejogo” involving several clubs.

DCIAP conducted six investigations into companies related to Benfica, Porto and Sporting Lisbon, including two investigations each. In these investigations, a total of 120 defendants were identified and the global value of the companies under investigation exceeded 228 million euros. Issues included suspicious transfers of players and coaches, image rights contracts and false invoicing schemes to evade taxes.
