New Delhi: The term of Indian President Drupadi Murmu will complete one year on July 25, 2023.
The President was pleased to see that the Palace had been able to connect with more and more people through technology over the past year. She was confident that Palace officials would continue to leverage technology and innovation in an effort to make the system more transparent and efficient.
To celebrate her first anniversary as President, President Murmu participated in several events. These included:
1. Laying the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the Shiva Temple in the Presidential Palace
2. Foundation stone laying for construction of cricket pavilion at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Public School Sports Ground, Rashtrapati Bhavan
3. Opening of Navachara – An AI showcase developed by Rashtrapati Bhavan in partnership with Intel India. The showcase showcases immersive innovations and homegrown AI solutions created by students and AI coaches. It features six interactive exhibits that provide an insight into the grandeur of Rashtrapati Bhavan and inspire the democratization of AI skills.
4. The Sutra-kala Darpan, the Rashtrapati Bhavan Textile Collection, opens. The collection showcases an extraordinary collection of antique textiles that document the illustrious legacy of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Rashtrapati Bhavan is a treasure trove of unique textile traditions, from zadoz and gold-embroidered velvets on carpets, beds and tablecloths to fine muslins and silk curtains. Each masterpiece is not only a display of artistic brilliance, but also a precious document of the enduring legacy of this iconic building.
5. Unveiling of Janjatiya Darpan – a gallery showcasing the common and interconnected cultural identities of different tribal communities. The aim of this gallery is to give a glimpse into the rich art, culture and contribution of tribal communities in building this nation. The gallery contains different themes like unsung tribal freedom fighters, traditional natural resource management practices like Halma, Dokra art, musical instruments, Gunjala Gondi script, agricultural and household tools, bamboo baskets, textiles, paintings like Warli, Gondi and mud art, scrolls, masks and jewellery, metalwork, weapons, contemporary photographs depicting tattoos, dioramas depicting ecological environments and maces. This gallery has been set up by Rashtrapati Bhavan in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).
6. In the presence of Shri Rajesh Verma, Secretary to the President, Shri Rajesh Gera, Director General of NIA and other officials of NIA and NIA, she launched the redeveloped website of the President of India and NIA. She also released a collection of highlights of the President’s tenure over the past year in the form of an e-book (link https://rb.nic.in/rbebook.htm).
7. Received the first book on the Ayurvedic Health Centre at Rashtrapati Bhavan titled Stay Healthy, Embrace Tradition.
In a brief speech at the website launch, President’s Secretary Rajesh Verma said that Rashtrapati Bhavan has taken several citizen-centric initiatives in the past one year, such as opening Rashtrapati Bhavan, President House and Rashtrapati Bhavan to the public throughout the year, extending the opening hours of Amrit Udyan and increasing the number of visitors. Chintan Shivir event was organized to promote innovative thinking and improve the overall working and living environment of Rashtrapati Bhavan. He thanked the President for his guidance and support for these initiatives.
