WASHINGTON (FEMA) – The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced that it will provide federal disaster assistance to Tennessee to supplement recovery efforts in areas impacted by severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding on May 8-9, 2024.
Public Assistance federal funds are provided on a cost-share basis to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding in Cannon, Chisholm, Giles, Hamilton, Jackson, Macon, Maury, Montgomery, Polk, Smith, Sumner and Warren counties.
The federal government also provides funding for statewide hazard mitigation measures on a cost-sharing basis.
Leda M. Khoury has been appointed as the federal coordinator for federal recovery operations in the affected areas. Additional officials may be appointed later if requested by the state and further evaluation warrants.
