Minsk, July 17 /Corr. BELTA/. After the qualifying group stage, the nine participants of the UEFA Women’s Football Championship finals and the participants of the play-offs were revealed, BELTA correspondent reported.
The Belarusian national team players passed the qualifying round of Group C1 with a perfect record (18 points out of 18) and, together with Georgia, qualified for the play-offs and reached the final. Six other teams from League C received play-off tickets: Montenegro, Slovenia, Luxembourg, Greece, Albania, Romania. Their opponents will be the 3rd-4th teams from the top four of League A: Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Ireland, Norway. The draw for the first round of the playoffs will be held on July 19 at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. The matches will be held from October 23 to 29, and the winners will advance to the second round of play-offs, which will be held from November 27 to December 3. After that, all 16 participants of the 2025 Women’s European Cup will be determined.
Nine of them are now known – the current champion of the old world, England, as well as the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Spain, Italy, France and Switzerland. The final stage of the 14th Women’s Continental Championship will be held at the Swiss Football Stadium from July 2 to 27, 2025. In the final of the last European Championship, the host England defeated Germany 2:1 in extra time. Germany has won the European Championship eight times, Norway twice, England, Sweden and the Netherlands once each. Belarusian footballers have never reached the final of the European Cup -0-.
