After 28 months in Balochistan, the polio virus is getting worse. 12 new cases were reported from all over the province. Three children died due to the new virus. Experts say the new variant of the polio virus can be very dangerous.

Due to the effective anti-polio campaign in Balochistan, no new cases have been reported in the province for 28 consecutive months. Twelve cases have been reported so far.

Inamul Haque, coordinator of the Balochistan Emergency Operations Centre, said there are many reasons for the spread of polio virus across Balochistan.

It is learnt that action has been taken against 534 polio workers who were negligent in the polio drive and colluded with parents to mark the fingers of children without administering polio drops to them. 74 polio workers have also been fired.

The Balochistan Health Department urged parents not to take polio vaccination lightly and not to skip it as it is the only way to protect children from disabilities.
