Minor Galindo, the gang leader suspected of carrying out the terrorist attack at San Ignacio Community Hospital, is no longer wanted by police. In June, after Galindo’s brother David was shot, several gang members showed up at the hospital, threatening staff and vandalizing property. Although police initially claimed it was a gang leader, investigators reviewed hospital surveillance footage and found that Galindo was not one of them. Police have charged one man with the violence that has led to a crackdown on criminals in the Twin Cities, but no other arrests have been made. Today, Police Chief Chester Williams provided an update and said staff members were unwilling to cooperate with police.

Police Commissioner Chester Williams: “I wish we had made more arrests, but the conspiracy behind what happened at the San Ignacio Polyclinic is beyond my comprehension. The staff who were there, the doctor who was in the audio, and the doctor who shared the audio with Channel 7, all refused to come forward and report to the police. We ended up arresting the suspects based on statements from third parties who were not there, and in order to be able to file charges for threatening language or other offences, we needed statements from people who were present at the hospital, but these people refused to cooperate. In fact, even when we held meetings, they did not attend, so without their statements, we could not continue the investigation. All the parties were detained, and we did our best to charge some of them with disorderly conduct, and they went to court, pleaded guilty and were fined. So from a policing perspective, we did everything we could. If at some point before the statute of limitations expired, the doctors or nurses who were working decided to give a statement, then we could charge these people with threatening language.”
The incident led the Cabinet to order an investigation and issue a statement.
