In an interview with YouTube channel SanInPlay, former Rockstar North technical director Obbe Vermeij warned fans of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) that they might be disappointed with the new series.
According to him, the technological advancement in GTA VI will not be as significant as the transition from GTA: San Andreas to GTA IV. He explained that the differences between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 are not as great as their predecessors, so the expected technological leap may not materialize.
Despite this, Vermeil admits that the game will most likely still be the best on the market, even if it is slightly different from its predecessor, GTA V. He was also impressed by the first trailer for GTA VI, especially the beach scene where all the characters are doing their own stuff and have their own animations.
Obbe Vermeil worked at Rockstar from 1995 to 2009.
Grand Theft Auto VI stars outlaws Jason and Lucia and is set in the fictional city of Leonidas, Florida. The game is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S in fall 2025.
