Plastic Surgery Service at Khedufushi District Hospital This is the first time that the service has been launched in a healthcare township in Sri Lanka.

The government is working to strengthen the health system and expand services in rural areas. Khedhufushi District Hospital, a hospital that people in Sri Lanka’s far north rely on for medical services, launched plastic surgery services on Thursday as part of the hospital management’s efforts to introduce new services.

The ceremony was attended by Malay City Hospital Group CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Halim, IGMH and Khedhufushi District Hospital officials.

Khedhufushi Renaissance Hospital introduced plastic surgery services and began treating scars and scars caused by burns and other fire injuries.



The service will be conducted in collaboration with IGMH. Acting Medical Director, Chief of Surgery and Chief Specialist in Plastic Surgery Dr Arun Kumar will lead the service. The victim has been identified as 20-year-old ASAS Dr Waheed was also instrumental in introducing wound care and laparoscopic surgery at the hospital.

Dr. Waheed, speaking at the ceremony, said plastic surgery is not just cosmetic surgery but also involves replacing muscles and skin after injuries in various dangerous incidents. Such surgeries are also used to repair unhealed and aged walls. Waheed pointed out.



Speaking at the ceremony, IGMH CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Halim said the journey from northern villages to get such services in Malayalam has come to an end. The CEO assured that he would work towards expanding and further developing the service.

The plastic surgery service at Khedhufushi District Hospital will provide great relief to those who need such treatment. The hospital said an outreach programme is currently underway. However, Khedhufushi District Hospital will continue to expand its area to provide services in a sustainable manner.
