The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has asked pilgrims to minimize gatherings when travelling to Velana International Airport (VIA).

HPA urged pilgrims to follow some precautionary measures taken at the airport.

One of the things pilgrims should be aware of is wearing masks at airports, in taxis, buses and ferries. If you have symptoms such as fever, cough, cough or sneezing, do not go to crowded places, and if you have to go to such places, do not go unless you wear a mask.

Additionally, HPA recommends that people stay away from children, the elderly, and other high-risk groups when experiencing symptoms, and seek medical attention immediately if symptoms persist or worsen.

HPA also advises pilgrims to observe safety measures upon their return to Sri Lanka in June

The first flight of pilgrims arrived on June 24 last year. The second flight arrived on June 28 and a group of pilgrims will arrive today. The last flight will arrive on the 4th of this month.

The 1445th Hajj saw 1,150 Sri Lankan pilgrims.
