Novak Djokovic has completed his list of honors. The 24-time Grand Slam winner has won almost everything in tennis. The 37-year-old Serb fell just short of an Olympic title, but in the clay-court final he beat Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in two tiebreaks: 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2).

In the first set between Djokovic and Alcaraz, both tennis players had the chance to break the opponent’s serve. They spent neither on the 37-year-old Serb nor on the only 21-year-old Spaniard. The first set had to be decided by a tiebreak, and Djokovic was slightly stronger and won 7-3.

There were no breaks in the second set either. This time it was only Djokovic who got a chance to serve from his opponent, but Alcaraz managed to get rid of it. The score was tied at 2-2, after which the Serbian won four points in a row and had several match points. Djokovic immediately took the first point and eventually won his first gold medal.

He ranks himself fifth on the list of tennis players who have been able to complete the “Career Golden Slam”, joining Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and Steffi Graf who have previously done so.

The men’s singles bronze medal went to Lorenzo Musetti, who was too strong for Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in three sets a day earlier.
