The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday came out in a scathing rebuke on actor and Congress MP Kangana Ranaut for her recent remarks linking the farmers’ protest with similar agitations in Bengal. The party distanced itself from Ranaut’s remarks and clarified that her views did not represent the party’s official stand.

BJP clarifies stance

In an official statement, the BJP stressed that Kaguna Ranaut’s remarks were not in line with the party’s position. The statement read: “The remarks made by BJP MP Kaguna Ranaut on the farmers’ protest do not represent the party’s position. The BJP disagrees with Kaguna Ranaut’s remarks. Kaguna Ranaut is neither allowed nor authorized to talk about the BJP’s policy issues.”

The party further directed Ranaut to refrain from making such statements in future and reiterated that the party is committed to social harmony as per its motto “All for Peace, All for Life, All for Prayer”.

Controversial remarks

Earlier in the day, Kangana Ranaut had shared a video on her X (formerly Twitter) account, sparking controversy in which she said the farmers’ protest could have led to “anarchy” similar to Bangladesh if it had not been for the decisive action of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. “In the name of farmers’ protest, anarchy similar to Bangladesh could have happened in India too,” Ranaut said in the video. “Outside forces are planning to destroy us with the help of insiders. If it had not been for the foresight of our leadership, they would have succeeded.”
