New Rangers signing Nedim Bajrami says he made the “right move” after switching to the Ibrox Football Club from Sassuolo.
The midfielder will now join Philippe Clement’s revamped Rangers side after agreeing a long-term deal with the Italian side.
This summer, Bajrami made headlines for scoring the fastest goal ever at the European Championship, putting Albania ahead against Italy in just 23 seconds.
The 25-year-old is now aiming to succeed at Rangers and says a conversation with manager Philippe Clement made him decide on a move to the Premier League.
He said: “I am delighted to be joining a club of Rangers’ size.
“They are a world-renowned club that has won many trophies and reached European finals in recent years.
“I’ve had some good conversations with the manager and I believe joining Rangers is the right choice at this stage in my career.
“I look forward to meeting all of my new teammates and fans in the near future.”
Bajrami, who started his career at Swiss side Grasshoppers before moving to Empoli, was signed by Sassuolo in January last year and Clement said Rangers had been keeping tabs on him for some time.
“I am delighted to welcome Nedim to the club,” said the head coach.
“We have been keeping tabs on him for some time and we are delighted to add him to our squad.
“Many of our supporters watched the European Championship games and followed the Serie A games last season.
“Nedim is not young, but he also has experience of playing in big games and we are delighted that he has decided to join Rangers at this stage of his career as it is the right club for him.”
Nils Koppen, Rangers’ head of recruitment, said: “We are delighted to welcome Nedim to Rangers and Scottish football.
“He has a wealth of experience, having played in the Swiss League and Serie A in recent years, as well as representing his country at the European Championships.
“He will further enhance the options we offer our coaches and we are confident he can be successful at the football club.”
