Paul Scholes Admit that he is worried Manuel Ugarte And believes the Uruguayan needs to become “some players” to improve Manchester United.

Ugarte, He joined from Paris Saint-Germain last week for £50.5 millionreceived a warm welcome from Manchester United fans as he made his debut at Old Trafford ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Liverpool.

The 23-year-old was forced to watch the match from the stands after failing to register in time Erik ten Hag’s team lost 0-3.

All three of Liverpool’s goals – a brace from Luis Diaz in the first half and a strike from Mohamed Salah in the second – came after mistakes from United midfielders Casemiro and Kobe Mainao.

Casemiro was substituted at half-time and United fans will now hope that Ugarte can provide solid defensive support to ten Hag’s midfield.

Scholes was welcomed by Ugarte on his debut at Old Trafford, who warned United fans not to expect the Uruguay international to dominate games in midfield.

The former United midfielder is also concerned about Ugarte’s club record, having spent just two seasons at Sporting Lisbon and one at Paris Saint-Germain before joining Erik ten Hag’s side in the summer transfer window.

“He has to be a great player,” Scholes said of Ugarte after United’s defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

“I think he’ll fit in well in this position, he’s only 23 and he’s been around a few clubs, which worries you a bit.

“But he does play that position well. I don’t think he’ll leave that area as often as we’ve seen and if there’s a little more discipline he’ll fill in, and that, I hope, will be his role.

“I don’t think he’ll be the greatest midfielder – I don’t think you’ll see him as a Toni Kroos.

“He (Ten Hag) needs discipline, he’s obviously seen that. Casemiro, well, the legs aren’t great. I don’t think Maino is that great an athlete. He relies more on his handling of the ball and his control of the ball.”

“Ugarte has to have all the qualities. He has to be a certain type of player to make this team better, and the job is a bit heavy on his shoulders and I don’t see it.”
